All over the world, COVID-19 is threatening people’s access to food.

While the world focuses on preventing the spread of COVID-19, we must remember that there are other disasters on the horizon. Even remote farmers are threatened by COVID-19. Because government lockdowns around the globe have interrupted our ability to support the current planting season, we anticipate a sparse harvest in the coming months.

Social distancing is making it harder to grow and deliver food. If a country is on lockdown, farmers can’t get the seed they need or take their crops to the market. When borders close, people lose access to basic staple foods, such as rice. COVID-19 restrictions are putting millions of people at risk of experiencing hunger in the coming months.
